And I’m pretty happy about it. I read a TON of books and sites trying to get the right mix of training and strength, plus I needed to fit in a half-marathon in August before the October 12 Chicago Marathon race date. I take a great bootcamp class a few times a week with hill and interval training, so M-W I plan to keep attending (some running but more cross-training).

Heather’s Fabulous Chicago Marathon Training Plan
I’m hoping this is a good plan – let me know what you think! Too much running, too little? I’ll also let you know how I feel at the outset of this plan. I’m really looking forward to hitting the track tonight for the first time in a while – I think it has really helped improve my running times.

It won’t let you view the plan…the calendar comes up but it’s blank and it says you don’t have permission.
How many weeks is your plan? As long as you have a good base mileage built up you should be good. Just make sure after the half you take some time off to rest. Rest days are critical!!!
And those were my thoughts without actually seeing the plan. GOOD LUCK!!!

I made the calendar public so hopefully it will show up now!
My plan is 18 weeks with 2 rest days a week and a slow buildup of mileage. I’ve run 2 other 1/2 marathons so I am looking to this half as more of a training run. Let me know if you can see it and thanks for the advice!

Heather, I appreciate a good training plan and yours is very well thought through. You have a great blend of endurance, speed, recovery, and strength. Very well done!
I’m going to shout out about your plan sometime soon on the Runners’ Lounge blog.
